Beskrivelse af bogenFor an English description of the book

DescriptionIn Scandinavia, women's law was established as a distinct legal discipline in university teaching and legal scholarship in the mid 1970s. It was well-known in the 1970s that there was something in the Anglo-American world called feminist studies or gender studies but Scandinavian Women's law was rather home-grown and generally not understood as inspired from or similar to the Anglo-American feminist studies.
During the last 40 years, Scandinavian Women's law has been mainstreamed into the general development of European law on gender equality and discrimination. As a consequence many authors today have abandoned the term "women's law" as outdated. We have chosen to keep the old terminology in the title of this book in order to point to the historical background of present day gender and law studies from Scandinavia.
The aim of the book is to set the stage of women s law today (2011) and take a look into the future of women s law. The book contains a diversity of essays written by legal and economic scolars, lawyers and an MD, all with different takes on the subject.
